PEORIA, Ariz. – The Greater Phoenix Jewish Film Festival will offer seven screenings at the Harkins Arrowhead Fountains 18 theater in Peoria from Feb. 8 through Feb 22.
The West Valley lineup includes three documentaries, three dramas and a comedy. One of the movies is paired with a short film, and several showings will feature post-screening discussions. In addition to the Arrowhead screenings, the festival will show films at the Harkins Camelview 5 in Scottsdale and the Harkins Chandler Fashion 20.
Among the Arrowhead screenings:
- Above and Beyond is a documentary about American pilots, veterans of World War II, who volunteered to fight for Israel in its 1948 War of Independence. This motley band of brothers – flying old American and German fighter planes – turned the tide of the war. They laid the foundation for today’s Israeli Air Force.
- God’s Slave is a tense political thriller that follows the collision course of an Islamic fundamentalist and a tough-minded Mossad agent sent to Argentina to prevent a suicide attack.
- It Happened In Saint-Tropez is a French comedy about a family of opposites navigating a wedding and a funeral.
- Marvin Hamlisch: What He Did For Love documents the life of the composer and showman who scored some of the most indelible melodies of stage and screen.
