It’s Been a Decade, But I Still Miss My Dad

Ten years ago today, in the wee hours of the morning, my father passed away at Hospice of the Valley in Peoria, Ariz. My Mom, my sister and I were with him.
He was only 68 and seemed to be enjoying life more than ever since retiring to Arizona. Every day was a new adventure for him.
It’s so hard to believe that a decade has passed. Life has changed a great deal for Mom and me. She made three trips to Europe, moved to a beautiful apartment in The Forum and embraced the technology of her HDTV and iPad. I moved across the country and changed careers.
None of that lessens the loss, however. Last week, I caught myself crying in a movie theater when a main character lost her father, who wasn’t nearly as likable as mine.
I miss you Dad.
