Faux Film Fight Plays Us for Boobs

rs_634x939-140529103116-634.Eva-Green-Sin-City-Poster.jl.052914Eva Green is sexy as hell, but let’s not kid ourselves. Every bit of this story about the poster for the upcoming movie Sin City: A Dame to Kill For reeks of exploitation for fun and profit.

• It’s an eye-catching ad for the filmmakers. Even if they end up toning down the poster, the image they want is out there.
• It perpetuates the illusion that the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) is doing something with its ratings system.
• It’s publicity for Green, a talented French actress who has yet to reach the top rung in Hollywood.
• It gives bloggers like me cover to run a sexy photo of Green.
• And while it may not be the intent, the image helps sell guns by portraying them as sexy. (Those of a certain age will remember cigarette ads before they were banned.)

So, this faux conflict is a “win-win” for everybody – except, perhaps, those concerned about how society views women.

Wait, what’s that you say? Jessica Alba is in the movie too? Playing a stripper?
